Fur coat and No Knickers was first presented in September 1980 and it was released to the amateur 3 years later. Since then it has been performed regularly on both the amateur and Professional stage. In spite of this it still raises a smile if not a belly laugh for the audience. Mike Harding’s dialogue still seems fresh although after 25 years one would think some of it inappropriate in the present day - it is a play of the 1980’s.
They play centres round the wedding of two young people whose parents have the same roots in the industrial towns of Lancashire. However, after the Second World War their paths diverged only to meet again for this happy event!
The action of the play itself records the events of the traditional stag night followed by the happy day itself and the emphasises just how much the two families differ from there original backgrounds.
